When you work in the medical field, nothing matters more than the patients and making sure that they recover and get through the surgeries with success. As someone that is playing a role in makings sure of this, you need to stay strong and detached from the situation. Showing emotion can have implications for the surgery. It provides a sense of personal satisfaction to go home and know you have saved a life or fixed an injury.

This way, you are not becoming attached to one person and you are providing your service to as many as you can. It also means you are in control of what they consume so that their health is fine and they recover to the best of their ability, with your support.

You will meet strong-willed people who will, in turn, make you a stronger person. They are all qualified and professional which means that you have the support when you are in the room. It also means you have a team to fall back on as well as the ultimate support system during emergency surgeries.

An attribute that you will need to have is not having to plan ahead and do the same things each day. It will not happen in this way when you stay in this profession. In fact, some have to perform duties to fill space when staff is short and this means you would need t adapt rather fast when the time comes. This will teach you the lesson of making do with what you currently have and doing it to your best ability. At that moment, you would need to break down the situation and make it work. Analyse everything around you and see how you can make the situation work. This learning you can take back to your personal life too.

Once qualified, you will get a chance to work with students. They will come into the hospitals as interns and will be looking to you for advice and learnings. This is your way to pass on the knowledge that will determine whether they will become good at their job. Your words will have an impact on how they react and look at situations. It is up to you to be the teacher and the motivation.
