Educating Parents on Video Games

With the newest of video gaming consoles came a new lingo that still confounds parents. After becoming familiar with different game consoles, parents have to differentiate game categories. Provided is a glossary of terms to assist parents in learning about their youths video games.

Role Playing Games, often known as RPG, are popular games where players can choose a character they want to be. The player could be a deep sea diver or a warrior princess in a fantasy land. RPG most likely require a solid internet connection to participate.

Vehicle Simulation games or VSG allow players to drive several different types of engine powered vehicles. There are many lifelike VSG provided by the top game consoles. For training and studying VSG are used in pilot school and for the military. VSG have excellent add-ons including realistic vehicle controls.

Another term is CMS which stands for Construction and Management Systems. These games allow gamers to customize diverse civilizations. Economics are prevalent in these games. Though some may include a military or policing component for protecting the city or country, they typically exclude any warfare play. CMS focus on the business aspect of video games. A player is successful if they succeed in producing the best life.

RTS or TBS - Both of these are used for strategy video games, one for Real Time and the other for Turn Based. Real Time strategy games operate off spontaneity and Turn Based operate off careful calculated movements. Internet and computer platforms can only be used for RTS games. TBS consist of more games including board games. Gamers must quickly create new solutions to problems in the many diverse environments. It is possible that top executives have the same thinking and problem solving skills as avid RTS gamers.

These three are the most popular video game acronyms. Video games are classified in the same way movies are.
