Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS Reviews

By Johan Ubur

Android 4.0 Ice Cream is the current Google Android Tablet PC Operating System. It is designed only for capsules and is thus optimised with far more features and benefits than you would normally find on a regular smartphone running on Froyo or Gingerbread.

The Gingerbread has received a dramatic improvement compared against Gingerbread in several aspects. One of the most blatant examples is reinforced application in Ice Cream. Many of the native applications on Android have been fully rethought and reinforced, such as the email, browser, android market, GTalk, and YouTube.

Email . The e-mail programs (both Gmail and the rest) use a two-pane system. So it makes browsing your mail and various folders far easier. Moreover these applications use a new API open to all devs called "fragments" which allow for sliding panes. This suggests the left pane starts out listing all available folders for that e-mail account, but when you choose something from the panel on the right side, that then slides over to the left and replaces the folder list. Therefore on the right side, now I can see the whole email thread or full talk that I requested pull up, and I'll see the entire conversation.

Browser . The largest enhancement is tab-enabled browsing. You do not need to press a menu button within the browser to see all the open windows. They are just presented like the Chrome browser on your computer, with the Action Bar showing off multiple tabs you can switch to rather easily.

Android Application Market . "My apps" section shows a listing of all programmes you've downloaded, updated and/or installed. You can dictate whether the apps will have updates mechanically installed, and you can open each individual app from this section. This listing of My Programs also notices if any updates are available, keeps me apprised of download/install progress, and is easy to scroll through.

Google Talk . The integration of local video chat and Google Video Talk app makes it handier and accessible for anybody to use it. Even if you have got a tablet and your partner does not just have them sign on to Google Talk on their computer and you're all set for a good video chat.

YouTube . The YouTube app was assembled with Render script, and it's easy to tell thanks to the extra 3 Dimensions renderings done up here. The app is set up like a grid with a few rows and columns, but when you scroll left or right this grid curves with the scrolling, acting as if it is on a carousel.

You can get all this applications program pre-installed in your best cheap android tablet from the factory.
