Web Security Consulting Trick or Guardian Angel?

By Daniel Turbin

Some of the people may look at the entire field of Internet security consulting with a doubtful eye, viewing it as more sting than substance. They may feel that it's just another sort of person with a hand out, looking to collect a payslip for some unsubstantial service to your company that you may not truly need .

In my perspective, the people that think this way have not looked at the statistics on the subject, or if they have, then they have not managed to grasp what they mean. I don't say this to be cruel, but the fact still is that each day, conservative estimates suggest that internationally there are far more than four thousand successful hacking attempts made each day .

More than 4,000. Think about that number for a moment. How long do you actually think you have got before they come across your business's site? If or when they do ( and again, neither the numbers, nor time is on your side ), how safe is your business?

Have you taken steps to protect your data in the event of a successful hack? Have you taken steps to lessen the damage such an attack may lead to? If not, then you're not only playing with fire, you're playing with the way forward for your business. If you are dependent on a web presence in any significant way in your daily business activities ( from purchaser relations to direct sales, from partnership to investigate, and everything in between ), then a successful hack will at once impact your operations, and in the overpowering majority of cases, negatively impact your net position.

Why take chances with that? Why risk your future needlessly? Shield your information. If you lack the technical experience to do it yourself, hire a certified net security expert to guage your company and draw up recommendations, then follow them scrupulously. You will be extraordinarily glad you did. These folks have the skills to help. Some distance from being con artists, they may well hold the keys to your corporation's enduring prosperity. Let them help you.
