The Art of Web Design

By Kelly Montagna

Web design is a rather tall order these days. Web design in the 90's was different, and many were great at it. It was a simple design process, and building a quality website was easy. Quality was a bit debatable, but it did work.

With websites for tradies today however, you have more to think about. For instance, will you be relying heavily on graphics? Will you use CSS? What about PHP? Will users need to login? In addition to considering these things, you must ask some obvious questions.

Where Will you Host? -- Think about choosing a host before you work on web design! One of the most important things you can do is ensure the host in question actually supports the format. You will find that most plugins are quite supported, but you could have to pay extra.

Flow -- In web design, many people create websites that simply do not flow. Having others test out your website is essential! What works well for you might be difficult for others to use. That is just something to think about.

Lightweight -- The weight of the website is often ignored by develoeprs. Yes, computers are more powerful, and the internet is faster, but when you are working with web design, you still have one major goal: to make your website as small as possible. Because larger websites take longer to load, you might find yourself losing customers. Timing is everything.

You could work on your own web design, but finding a company to deal with it for you would help. While you might have the abiltiy to create a great website, you will have a blurred perspective. It can be difficult to create acceptable content. In addition to that, where will you find the time to create a website when you are running a business? You probably won't. Finding a web design company to help you in every aspect should be quite simple. These are technical considerations that you should really never have to touch.

Will it cost a lot? You could spend quite a bit, yes, but it will be worth it. Find a company that can give you the website you need today.
