When the first hand held computer made, it was mainly used as Personal Data Manager which functions as calendar, address book, calculator etc. However later it was integrated with mobile telephony and Operating system like Windows also specifically designed for this. Websites are designed to be displayed on these devices and currently it happens to be used even for cash transactions.

The vast majority of original PDAs like Apple Newton and Palm Pilot used touch screen for user interaction and still have only few buttons.
