Tips For Boosting Your Personal Computer

By Jasmin Watson

Most of us are familiar with getting dismayed with our computer as it is not working as fast as it was when we first bought it. Did you know that when this happens, many individuals go out and buy a brand new laptop, when in fact, just because they're running slower, it doesn't meant they're completely outdated. You ought to follow these tips that will help keep your laptop running faster for longer.

One mistake that many are guilty of is to keep all your information in one location, in other words, on one computer. There's simply no need for this. By using an external storage device you can still have immediate access to all you need, but without having to put such a huge strain on your laptop. Using this method you will also ensure that you have a backup for your own data.

The next tip is to regularly look at the programs that you have got on your machine, and remove any that you do not need. They will only take up space that can be well used to keep your laptop running fast. However, you can't just delete the software program, you will need to uninstall it correctly and remove any linked files.

Have you got more than one antivirus? If you do, you may find that your personal computer is running slowly. Pick one antivirus and stick with it, having multiple programs running in the background continually will make your personal computer clunky and slow. You do not need more than one antivirus, select one that works well and stick to it. If you happen to read this, and you decide to uninstall an antivirus, ensure you do it properly. There are several free online softwares that will help you uninstall your antivirus and make sure that there are no ghost files left in your system.

Updates can be a tricky thing; make sure that your personal computer system is updated; this will make sure that your laptop runs smoother. Every system has an official way to inform you that there are official updates that are required for your laptop. But watch out for updating programs that you have stopped using; they will just take extra space in your system and make everything slower. Update only what's necessary, if you are getting update notifications from programs that you have not used in years, they are probably not doing any good to your system.
