Enhancing Your Child's Concentration Through Video Games

Making sure optimum functioning of our mental capacities through maintaining mind fitness would enable us to participate and do well in our every day activities. The solution to keeping our brain healthy is to establish more brain connections through constant learning. However, learning is quite difficult for kids because of their natural inability to concentrate.

Technological innovations has made man accomplish milestones in various aspects such as art, science and medicine, and mostly, in his way of living. Many parents are against their children using technology because of its adverse mental, behavioural and health effects. Moreover video games are particularly discouraged.

However video games are addictive and often exhibit violence and other crude behaviors that addicted players copy in some way, not every video games produce negative effects on its users. In fact, playing video games can aid a child develop their sensory-motor abilities, their visual and auditory processing, and even enhances their focus and retention. Depending on the game console they have, children would be able to make use of their hands, and in the situation of the Nintendo Wii, their entire body, so they would be able to exercise physically and improve their motor control and visual abilities.

Popular video games today require strategic thinking and boost the use of speed and accuracy. These game features require concentration and thinking on the part of the gamer. Since kids perceive video games as fun or for entertainment, they would always be encouraged to succeed or finish the game successfully. This means that they would exert heaps of effort and focus on the game they are playing. Eventually, their concentration skills would improve and they would be able to focus on things especially when they find them exciting.

However, everything has risks. It is fine to let your child to play video games as long as you assure that the games he play have gone through your authorization and most particularly, his gaming time is limited. It is in order to prevent addiction to these types of games. To be able to instill discipline in your child is to reward him with gaming time whenever he performs well in school or at home. This method, he would first concentrate on school to be able to earn his reward although he's still learning even at play.
