Shield Your Business - Be Sure You Have Got Something to Pass On

By Daniel Turbin

It hasn't ever been more true than it is today. The global economy is changing. America's economy is changing. Gone are the days where a person could graduate from school on a Tues., get a job at the factory on the outskirts of the town on a Wed., work there for 30 years and retire with an annuity and a gold watch. Those days are gone and they are not coming back.

In response to that, folk in increasing numbers are striking out on their own. Trying their hand at entrepreneurship, and a remarkable proportion of them are succeeding. They're growing beyond themselves and blazing new trails. For many , what started off as a commercial necessity has evolved into the vision of growing a vibrant business to be able to pass it on to their kids.

That's a good, noble goal, and I'm wishing each single person who has that need the very best of luck. I'd also urge every single one of them to pay close attention to data protection.

Most folks who open a business for themselves are blessed with abundant common sense and a good working ethic. They very quickly learn the fundamentals of what it takes to build, run, and manage the day to day operations of a little corporation. Wretchedly though, many of those same folk are not terribly technically inclined, and while they may intuitively understand that to protect your information is to protect your business, comparatively few of these new entrepreneurs have any firm ideas about the best way to do that. Due to this, it is a thing very often left to risk, and this is a blunder.

So if you are needing to grow your business to have something to pass on to your children and grand youngsters, then I enjoin you to make net security part of your thinking. If you do not put some thought into it ( and that would include contracting a qualified expert if you do not have the technical know-how yourself ), then it may be the thing that blind sides you, and rather than leaving a flourishing business to the next generation, you'll leave a busted site with some smarmy hacker emblem on it, and dreams that got pulled out from under you. Do not let that happen to you or your dreams!
