By Abe Johnson

It is harder than you think to have a successful computer information site. You cannot expect traffic just because you have a website. You will need to have knowledge of SEO and online marketing. Use these tips to get started.

On your contact page, make sure visitors have multiple methods of getting a hold of you. Your contact page should have your name, telephone numbers, e-mail and business address. It's not much, but this information can help build trust and credibility with your visitors. Also, make sure your e-mail is clearly visible on every page on your site!

Remember when getting your site started but it is very important you do not post a page that is not yet complete. If there are portions of your site that you have not yet completed the do not publish your site. And under improvement sign on your computer information site will make customers leave your site and there's no excuse for publishing an unfinished site. If necessary leave unfinished pages off of the navigation until it is ready to be published.

At the end of each page in your site include links to other pages in your site. After a visitor is done with one page, you have to make it facile for them to stay on your site, and not go someplace else. Unless it is to your advertisers.

If you have many items to display on your computer information site, make sure that the site is organized into categories. The format for each of your web pages can be different, but the navigation bar and branding elements must remain the same. Make sure that the navigation menu and header remain in the same place.

A search bar is imperative if you have a big site with a lot of informational content. Visitors will be annoyed if they have to keep hunting for relevant information. Make it easier for them to find the information they need in an instant.

Frequently promote and advertise your computer information site online and offline. Tell everyone you can come into contact with like customers, clients, the press, and stakeholders by sending them emails, messages, newsletters, etc. displaying your URL and information about your website. Same goes for offline by putting it on your business cards, posters, flyers, invoices, letterheads, ads, street banners, and even in your events. Go all out and do whatever else you can think of to get your site out there.

Have you ever been casually surfing along from webpage to webpage, when out of the blue, you get assaulted by a shrieking round of music that scares the bejeezus out of you? Pages that automatically start music or have ads with audio are very annoying, and all efforts should be made to avoid inconveniencing your visitor. If you want to include a track to go along with the content on your page, display a widget somewhere prominent on the page that gives the user the option to hit play.
